ARCHITECTURAL: Pet Photography 52 Week Project - Week 49

The theme for this week is architectural. Most of my photo sessions don't really include any architectural elements. Most of my sessions are at parks. Most don't have a lot of architectural elements or if they do, it's a bridge. If I'm going to write a blog about this topic and take photos this week using architectural elements, that was going to require some planning. However....

I'm still playing catch up from being gone last month for 15 days. As soon as I got home, I had 3 photo sessions. I'm in the midst of editing those images and I just had another photo session this past Sunday. I did take my camera with me on an overcast day earlier this week while walking a few of my midday clients.  Here's what I came up with.

I walk Sam every morning around 8:30am. There are a couple of bridges in her neighborhood and I thought one of them would work as my architectural element. See the photo below of the bridge and then see the next photo of Sam's idea of posing in front of the bridge. She is a squirrel hound. I had to hold her 5' leash while trying to take her photo and all she wanted to do was look for squirrels. She's not going to run off after them but she is always on squirrel patrol. When she spots one, she freezes. She's the dog I did an instagram story on earlier this week (and I have in the past) because her squirrel hunting antics makes me laugh. When given the choice of looking for squirrels or looking at my camera, I think it's obvious what she chose. The last photo of her has no achitectural elements, I just thought I'd share what is typically my view of Sam and the pretty yellow tree.

Here are a couple of shots from my photo session on Sunday. There was a bridge at this park. However it's not overly exciting and the dappled sunlight down the middle of the bridge wasn't ideal.

If I posted the before shot of Rusty and his dad, you'd see how much photoshop work was involved in this one. I did learn something though that I need to do going forward at my sessions that will make my life easier. That is yet another reason why I enjoy doing this 52 week project. I learn new things and this time it's something that will make my life easier when it comes to editing. Woot woot.  (I took the photo of the bridge without the dog and handler thinking I could use it for editing. It didn't help. The depth of field is off... and I know why and I should've caught that at the session. I will next time!)
