Australian Shepherd Available for Adoption in Charlotte NC
Where are all of the Australian Shepherd lovers?
This gorgeous, smiling almost 4 year old Australian Shepherd is available for adoption through the North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue.
Here are the North Meck Animal Rescue requirements listed on their website:
You must be at least 24 (sometimes negotiable) years old.
Have a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID
Be willing and able to spend the time and money to maintain this pet for its natural lifetime. Please note this can be an upward of 15 years.
If you are not a homeowner, you must provide written landlord approval.
The dog you are adopting is a companion animal, it is not to live on a chain, or be ignored while kenneled. Please do not apply if you are an outdoor only home. We do not adopt to outdoor situations as we are confident that we can find indoor homes for all of our animals.
If you move, you must plan to take the pet with you.
You must never allow your pet to ride in the back of a pick-up truck un-secured.
There is an application that you will need to complete. All applicants are screened in order to make certain the best fit is found for each dog.
Blue is a typical Australian Shepherd. She is smart and very high energy. She needs an active family who is familiar with owning an aussie and can help her burn her energy. She needs to be mentally and physically exercised. Regularly. Every Single Day.
She is also gorgeous. I’ve always said I hope my next dog has a great smile. She does have a great smile but our laid back, couch potato dog household wouldn’t be a good fit for her.
She would be bored and dogs that are bored can get destructive. They can bark obsessively. I’m not sure that she would but I know that our house isn’t the right fit for Blue. It wouldn’t be fair to her. And that’s the bottom line. Finding a home that is the BEST home for Blue.
I recently had the opportunity to meet and photograph her. I am always more than willing to donate my time and provide rescue groups with photos of their dogs that are up for adoption. I do love dog smiles.
Here’s a bonus too: Blue is being fostered by a dog trainer. This dog trainer also has an Australian Shepherd of her own so she is very familiar with the traits of the breed. Blue is learning every day how to be a good dog. That’s a huge bonus for her new family. That work will need to continue throughout her life.
