Fantasy - Dog Photography 52 Week Project: Week 16

Watching this scene from my hotel room in Cannon Beach Oregon in August 2016. Not fantasy but my reality.

Fantasy is the topic for our 52 week dog photography project and I've been thinking all week about what I could do. Frankly I've been stumped. As I am typing this I realize I could've just made a grave error but my love for football saved me.

Because you see, I just typed "fantasy" into google to try and come up with some ideas. I obviously didn't think that through before typing but luckily 'fantasy football' popped up. Thank goodness.

That could've been bad.

Can you imagine the ads that would start popping up on my facebook feed? YIKES.

So, I'm back to the drawing board.  This time in google I typed "definition of fantasy" and I got this: the activity of imagining things, especially things that are impossible or improbable.

I suppose these next two images aren't impossible but they're certainly improbable. Perhaps a butterfly just above Fisher's nose was his fantasy and maybe it was Maggie's too. I photographed the butterfly in Costa Rica in February so it would've had to fly a really long distance to find these two dogs. That's fantasy, right?

Obviously I am reaching here so I'm going to move on!

I am a realist. In my life and in my work. My images are natural. I don't push the boundaries in post processing very often.

The other reason I struggled to produce images is because another photographer recently posted an image she created that I LOVE. I'm guessing some of the other photographers here saw it too. Google "Natasha Saltes Photography." The image I love is the one of the puppies in the boat. I LOVE THIS. All week long I couldn't get this image out of my head so my hat is off to Natasha and her work.

Three buddies on the beach in Costa Rica. My reality in February not my fantasy.

I don't fantasize a lot but I am a dreamer. I am constantly dreaming about being somewhere else and that somewhere else is Banff in the Canadian Rockies, Costa Rica with my photographer friends, or many other places I've been and loved.

These places. Now to go back to Banff and photograph dogs with these amazingly beautiful backgrounds. That is my goal.

That wraps up week 16 for me. This is a blog circle next up is Pet Love Photography, serving Greater Cincinnati and the San Francisco Bay Area. Keep clicking the links at the bottom of each post to read each photographer's blog and then you'll end up right back here.
