I Love Photographing Puppies

Like I LOVE photographing puppies.

I started BARKography because I don’t have any great photos of my first dog. She’s the only dog I’ve ever owned as a puppy.

I don’t want anyone else to have my same regrets so that’s why I became a dog photographer.

I love photographing puppies so much, I offer a discount for clients who book me if their dog is 5 months old or younger. I just love all their gangly, awkward puppy-ness.

Let me introduce you to 4lb four month old Mildred Grace or “Millie.”

If you don’t know, I also have a dog walking business and one of my long time clients referred her friend to me who needed a dog walker. I have the good fortune to have Millie has my newest dog walking client (and I’m using the term “walk” loosely. ha!)

I’ve met a lot of dogs in my 15 years as a dog walker but I’m not sure I’ve ever met a puppy this small. She was soooo teeeeny tiny with a TON of personality. She wasn’t shy at all!

And I immediately fell in love.

Can I tell you the instant I met her at our consultation my first thought was: I HAVE TO PHOTOGRAPH THIS PUPPY.

I am not kidding.

And by the end of the consultation, we had a photo shoot scheduled for 2 days later and here are some of her mom’s favorites.

Before my consultation with Millie and her mom, I knew Millie was a boston terrier puppy and I knew she was 4 months old. I didn’t know she was only 4lbs.

Here’s an unedited photo to try to give you a sense of how small she was. She was not bigger than her mom’s foot and not much taller than the recently cut grass.

Now I get to see this cutie multiple times a day several days/week. She is still tiny but so much bigger compared to the first time I met her.

I love being able to provide my clients with artwork of their dogs that they’ll cherish forever. Mission accomplished.
