An Olympic Hopeful and her Dog Lani
Earlier this year I photographed a golden retriever named Lani.
Part of my process before the photoshoot is asking a lot of questions. I want to get to know you. I want to get to know your dog.
I want to understand why you want photos of your dog taken. I want to know how you want to display your photos. If you’re not sure, that’s okay too.
Do you want to be in the photos? (I always recommend this!)
Do you want to hang your photos on the wall?
Are you going to have so many favorites that you’d prefer an album so you can have them all?
Do you have an Instagram page and you want to post the digitals there?
Lani’s mom wanted to be in some of the photos. They were adorable together.
I even got to photograph Lani’s mom’s mom.
Lani provided a few bloopers and I included one below. #bloopersbyBARKography
Through the course of our correspondence before the photo shoot, I learned that Lani’s mom is training for the Olympics. She’s a discus thrower. I told her she should bring a discus with her so we can incorporate it into the photos. She also brought a Road to 2020 bandana.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19, The Olympics have been postponed until 2021. I don’t know if Lani’s mom will continue to train for 2021 Olympics or not. If she does, I’ll be more than happy to photograph Lani again in a 2021 bandana.
