BARKography Destination Announcement

My dream for BARKography is to travel and have dog photography sessions in fabulous locations. My first BARKography destination announcement for 2017 is..... (insert drum roll sound here) southern California.

For those who don't know, I lived in southern CA for 3 years, from 2004 - 2007. We moved from Charlotte to Corona del Mar (link to google images here) and then back to Charlotte. (Keep reading to hear that story. :o)

We rented a home 4 blocks from the beach. At the time I worked in recruiting in a job I did not love (BIG understatement BIG.) Every morning before work, I would walk my 2 labs, Sam and Sloan to the beach to see the gorgeous views. It was a great way to start my day and I did it every single day.

Sunrise on Corona del Mar Beach in California. Sunsets on this beach are spectacular! I cannot wait to have a dog on this beach at sunset!!!! Especially now that my photog skills have improved since taking this! Eeeeeeeeeee

My husband didn't love living there because he missed Charlotte so I knew it wouldn't last. I tried to soak in and appreciate each and every day and I think I did. I'd look at the  palm trees and think "I'm so fortunate to be able to see palm trees every day."

In 2007, Don's job within his company changed again. At an Italian restaurant in Newport Beach on a Friday night in February 2007, Don asked me if I wanted to move to China. My immediately response was, "No, I can't get the dogs there." Sloan was 11 years old. I wasn't putting her in the cargo area of a plane and shipping her to China. (**My dogs have never been on a plane and I seriously doubt they ever will be. When moving to CA and back to NC, I drove the dogs.)

So, over dinner that night we agreed to move back to Charlotte. We could move anywhere close to an airport and we chose Charlotte.

Charlotte has been great to me. I started my dog walking business See Spot Run here in 2009. My background in recruiting and all of the contacts I had from recruiting here for 15 years, helped me launch and create a successful business but the reality is I don't love Charlotte.

I want to be surrounded by beautiful landscape and amazing achitecture. Now that I am a photographer, I want to live somewhere where there are great places to go and have BARKography dog photo sessions. **I am on a mission to find locations in Charlotte I love. We are not moving... this is home.)

To say I am excited about my first BARKography destination announcement in southern California is an understatement.

I took this photo at the Huntington Dog Beach in October 2015. I really had no idea what I was doing. I've worked hard in 2016 at learning all I can about photography. I'm attending 2 dog photography workshops in 2017 where I will be surrounded by amazingly talented photographers. I'm so excited to continue learning and to provide dog lovers with beautiful art of their dogs. BARKography Southern California November 2017 is going to be incredible.

For those who've been following me on Instagram, you know I was trying to decide where to travel to see Bruno Mars. I knew I'd schedule dog photography sessions wherever I saw him so I'll be at his concert in Los Angeles in November 2017. BARKography Southern California will be in November 2017 which gives me lots of time to plan. More details to come and I'll start taking reservations this spring. :) For those wanting to put their name on the list, use the Contact page on my site.

What do you think?
