BLUE - Dog Photography 52 Week Project: Week 19

DSC_9790.JPG

Blue is the theme for week 19 of our 52 week project and I'm taking a slight liberty here. I was in Cape Cod last week so I had the oppotunity to photograph dogs on the beach. Something I NEVER get to do. However on day 1, the skies were pretty gray. I should change my theme to blue-gray.

The dogs didn't care that the weather wasn't cooperating. Neither did I if I'm being honest. We loaded the dogs (2 berners and a chihuahua) in the car and headed for the beach early on my first morning.

In April, I photographed my first bernese mountain dog and I fell in love with the breed. Staying with Chloe and Haley reinforced that feeling. They really are gentle giants all too willing to roll over on their backs for a belly rub.

I am a big dog lover but I grew up with chihuahuas. I love that breed too and Minney was easy to like. After barking for about 60 seconds when I first walked in, she warmed up to me and decided she liked me enough to crawl under the covers on my bed to sleep at night.

Haley and Chloe love the water. Their mom had just given them a bath but they got in the water as soon as we hit the beach. Then they wanted to lie down in the sand. So much for the baths.

And when you come out of the water, you must do this.

I'm really reaching here as these images may be more gray than blue but my eyes see bluish-gray so I'm going with it!

And as the morning went on, the sun started to appear and the sky was more blue.

These photos were all taken on my first morning in Cape Cod. The weather got better and better as time went on and sunset our last night was epic. I'll blog about it all soon.
