Dogs and Sunflowers: Mark your calendars for July 2019

Dogs and sunflower fields are a great combination. I so wish I considered myself a writer and could find the right words to express how I feel about these photos.

This is Moose. He's my 4th lab. We rescued him at the age of 7 and we've had him for 4 years. If you're not familiar with my story, I was inspired to buy my first camera in the summer of 2014 when my aging black lab Buddy had a health scare. Shortly after getting my camera, we said goodbye to Buddy and opened our hearts and our home to Moose.

Moose was a bit challenging in the beginning. We didn't realize how severe his separation anxiety was. We quickly figured out how to manage it to keep Moose happy. Luckily for us (and Moose), my husband and I both work from home so we are here a lot.

My other job is as a dog walker so that first week, when my husband was traveling and I needed to work, I hired a dog sitter to come and (literally) sit at my house with Moose. He just needed someone there.

It didn't take Moose long to figure out he was safe and loved.

Fast forward 4 years and I love this dog. I mean I LOVE THIS DOG.

He's been my model and my test subject as I've become a photographer. He's helped me find my "why" in life. I'm so grateful to him for his patience as a model and his ability to make me laugh. I'm so grateful that he's been the one by my side helping along the way.

There were bees in the sunflower field. They didn't care about us at all, they were too busy in the flowers but this one caught Moose's attention. LOL! He does make me laugh.

Moose is 11. He is starting to show his age. My goal from now and until however long I have him is to continue to capture photos of him that I can cherish forever.

Moose. My 90 lb lap dog. The one who just wants to be around people. The guy who loves everyone. And I love him back more.

Having the opportunity to photograph this dog in a sunflower field might be the highlight of my summer.

Dogs and sunflowers fields are always a good idea. Get on the list to have your dog's photo taken here. There will be limited opportunities for dog and sunflower sessions next July 2019! The flowers only last a few weeks and I'll book up fast.
