Traveling Photographer
If you’ve looked around my website or if you follow me on Instagram, you know I love to travel. I consciously made a decision not to travel as much in 2019 so I’d planned to travel a lot in 2020. I actually set a goal to travel every month.
That goal was on track as I was in Oregon in January, Texas in February and technically in March too because I came home on March 1. In April I was supposed to be at a tulip festival in Oregon. July was NYC. August was Vancouver.
But COVID-19 but an end to all of my travel until last month when my husband and I packed up our dogs and drove to Hilton Head for a litte R&R.
You may also know that all of my travel involves photographing dogs. I’ve never taken a trip since getting into photography that doesn’t involve my camera.
As a traveling photographer, I book client photo shoots prior to my trips.
Since we were in Hilton Head in August, I only booked one photo shoot. It was blazing hot and honestly kind of miserable outside.
Storm the husky and two of his humans met me on the beach in Palmetto Dunes for a short photo shoot.
I say short because of this valuable lesson I learned: when staying in a gated community that requires a car pass to get into the area, call ahead to make certain the pass is in fact ready for pick up. It in fact was not there and that delayed our start time.
If we were on the west coast and the sun was setting behind the ocean, we’d have been fine but on the east coast, the sun was setting behind us so it started to get dark.
We had fun. Storm was awesome and oh so handsome.
btw - he was on leash the entire session. We didn’t want him taking off down the beach to say hello to any furry friends during our shoot.
