BLANK SLATE - Dog Photography 52 Week Project: Week 1

Blank slate is the theme for the dog photography 52 week project in week 1. If you're a dog photographer and you're new to the 52 week project, welcome. It's a great group and I love participating in this every week although I might not participate every week this year. I'm pretty sure I didn't miss a week last year but I'm going to cut myself some slack this year and be okay if I miss a week every now and then.... I think.

Here's a bit about me: My name is Kim and I discovered photography late in life. I bought my first camera in 2014 when my black lab Buddy had a health scare. I wanted to make sure I captured some nice photos of him and I thought if I bought a nice DSLR, I'd be a professional photographer. I was sooo naive. I had no idea there was much to learn about photography.

Willow

This is Willow, our 13 year old yellow lab who passed away unexpectedly on December 15th. She was my 4th lab. I've said goodbye to 3 others before her but this time was different. Different for a lot of reasons.

7 years ago we weren't looking for another dog. I got an email from one of my neighbors about a 5 year old "white" lab that needed a new home.

Favorite things is the topic of the dog photography 52 week project in week 52. Favorite things seems really appropriate for the theme since we are wrapping up the year. In 2017, I participated in the 52 week project every week (or at least I think I did. :o) I also posted on Instagram almost every day.

Instagram has something called #2017bestnine. It's a site anyone with an instagram account can go to and type in your instagram name and find out which 9 photos got the most likes in 2017. Here's mine

Moose and his Next Best Friend

We have started the search to find Moose his next best friend. Sadly and very unexpectedly, Willow passed away last week. We'd discussed getting a 3rd dog occasionally over the last year because we felt like Moose would do best when there is always someone home to keep him company but we never did it. So now we are looking for his next best friend.

UGLY SWEATERS: Dog Photographer 52 Week Project - Week 51

Ugly sweaters in the topic for this week's 52 week project and I think a lot of us are really unsure how to approach this week. The topics are meant to challenge us and for those photographers who are experiencing summer right now, I'm sure this one is a challenge. I at least am in the midst of winter although yesterday it was 72 degrees here.

RELAXING: 52 Week Dog Photography Project - Week 50

Relaxing is the topic of our 52 week dog photography project and I am not lying when I say, I literally just picked up a calendar and looked to clarify that this is in fact week 50. It is! Wow, can someone please slow down the clock? Thinking about how quickly time goes by is anything but relaxing to me.
