Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival at the Wooden Shoe Farm is in Woodburn, Oregon which is about 45 minutes south of Portland. The annual festival runs for 3-4 weeks from mid April to early May.

My apologies for what is about to come next because around where I live dogs would never be allowed in fields like this but the:

Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is DOG FRIENDLY!!

I live in Charlotte NC almost 3000 miles away from Oregon but I’ve gone to this festival the last two years and I plan to go in 2023.

This trip has quickly become an annual BARKography on Tour stop.

Typically springtime in Oregon can be rainy. However in 2021 my first time there, with the exception of the first morning there wasn’t a cloud in the sky the entire time. I don’t prefer to shoot in harsh sunlight but we did because we didn’t have a choice.

This year, the weather did a 180 on us and was cloudy and rainy pretty much every day. We limited our booked sessions because of the weather but my friend Audrey / Sunsets Unleashed had her dog Mochi with her so I got a lot of photos of her.

Last year we had multiple photo shoots scheduled every day. This year both Audrey and I have been really busy so we were okay with some downtime and working on some personal projects for ourselves.

I am participating in the Unleashed Education Emerge Challenges and one of them was “All the Details.” Here was my entry and let me just say this was hard. Trying to track a thin white tail as Mochi walked through the yellow tulips was a in fact a challenge. And now I have a million photos of her tail in the tulips. LOL

If you know my photography style, it is very colorful. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why I love going there so much.

Look at all this color!! What’s not to love, right?

Do you have a favorite color tulip? This year my favorites were the pink and yellow in the top photo. They are all gorgeous though.

Thank you Wooden Shoe Farm for creating such an amazing location and for allowing dogs. Some of my favorite memories as a dog photographer are when I’m in these tulip fields.

We took quite a bit of video this year so I’m excited to create some marketing pieces for the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in 2023. I am already excited to go back!

This is a blog circle and our topic this week was Location Spotlight. Next up is Houston pet photographer Kelly Russo, shares one of her favorite photo spots that many Houstonians might not even know about! Be sure to click the link at the end of each post to make your way through the circle. You’ll end up back here when you’re done.
